One Missing Tooth
Our Approach To Single-Tooth Implants
The Dr. Kupeyan patient-preferred approach for single teeth now provides the patient faced with tooth loss-especially in the Smile Zone-with the option of having an implant placed and a provisional (temporary) crown made the same day (usually 1 – 2 hours).
- Loss of front tooth due to sports injury.
- Tooth removed, implant and a provisional tooth placed in a couple of hours.
- This treatment has limitations and cannot be performed in long standing infected sites.
What Can Cause Tooth Loss?
The following are some examples of situations that lead to tooth loss:
- A tooth breaks and you are informed that it can’t be fixed.
- When a tooth cannot have a root canal.
- Tooth has a large filling and fixing it would be only be for a short period of time, and treatment would be required again.
- The cost of treatment doesn’t justify the poor prognosis of the tooth.
- Accidental tooth loss.

Questions About Single-Tooth Dental Implants
What Is a Single-Tooth Dental Implant?
A single-tooth implant is a treatment used to replace one missing tooth. It consists of a small implant post placed in the jawbone, which supports a custom dental crown.
How Does a Single-Tooth Implant Stay in Place?
The implant is secured into the jawbone, where it integrates with the bone over time. Once healed, a connector (called an abutment) is attached to hold the crown.
Do Dental Implants Affect Surrounding Teeth?
No. Unlike bridges, single-tooth implants do not rely on or affect adjacent teeth. The implant stands independently.
What Is a Dental Implant Crown Made Of?
The crown is typically made from durable materials like porcelain or zirconia, shaped and shaded to match nearby teeth.
